FABRIC REPORT-WEEK 11, 2015

Thank heavens for getting another quilt bound-I can claim a little more in the used column! There is going to be very little sewing or at least finishing done in the next couple of months. Starting April 6th the next phase of the remodel will start. (Master bath, bedroom and then wood flooring in the rest of the downstairs). The other news-my Dad has decided it is time to move into a 55 and over community. It has taken him a while to come to that conclusion. He is 97. His lease there starts April 1. Need I say more?

DESIGN WALL MONDAY-3/9/15

I have been sewing on blocks for various projects.  I did finish the Trifecta BOM for Feb.
I like this version of the Friendship Star. Has a little more interest to it.I need to go back to Cotton Cupboard now and get the block for this month.

I have also been doing the Quilters Addicts Anonymous  2015 BOM on Craftsy. Calypso Kaleidoscope is the name. I am using some of the Calypso Batiks by Moda and a lot from my stash. It has been a lot of fun so far and I am caught up! This is the center medallion.
And yes, I plan on keeping this one!

This link will take you to it-      calypso kaleidoscope

Have been having fun celebrating being another year older. Meals with close friends, of course the coupons from various places.  All great fun. This was my free dessert from Jack Allens Kitchen in Round Rock last Monday.
Galen and I split the very rich chocolate torte.
It's a  rainy Monday here in Round Rock. Over an inch so far and still raining. Am hoping that the areas to the west of us over the Highland Lakes are getting this as well. The farmers close to us are now wishing it would stop raining for a little while so they can get their corn planted. They start planting by the middle of February and this year it has been a little wetter than usual and colder than usual. So if they haven't planted be now it will be another week before the ground is ready.

The contractors should be coming out this afternoon to give us ideas for the remodel of the master bath and the other big job we want done. My Dad who us 97 is thinking that maybe now is a good time to look at the retirement place near by for those 55 and older. That is tomorrow. He is still living by himself and is getting tired of the cooking etc. And we would have a little more peace of mind. He knows that. But it is his decision.
See what else happens this week!

DESIGN WALL MONDAY-FEBRUARY 9, 2015

I have a little something so show.  I finally got the January blocks made for Quilt addicts Anonymous  BOM.  She is using a line of Moda batiks-Calypso Sunrise. Absolutely stunning. I am using a few of those also but mostly using from my stash of batik fabrics.
Hoping to start working on February's block this week and maybe this months block for Trifecta. But who knows, the weather is going to be nice for most of the week. There may not be much sewing!
I mentioned last week that we had a few white pelicans in our pond. the few have turned to about 20 now. I am sure they will soon be heading north. They are fun to watch and they are such big birds.

That's all for me today.

Fabric Stash-week 6 2015

A little sewing and a little buying this week. I am working on several blocks of the month right now. The Trifecta, block 7 . Also started a new online one. Most of the fabric for the new is from my stash but I did see a few batiks that I wanted to add to it. Didn't finish anything so can't count nothing as used.

DESIGN WALL MONDAY-2/2/2015

Nothing on the wall again but did complete 2 quilt tops this past week.  First I decided I wanted my Seeing Stars Quilt a little bigger so I added borders to it.

This is from Denise Russart blog Justquiltin. It was her New Year Day mystery. This will be going to my quilter next week.
My other finish top is Round and Round. It is a  Thimble Blossoms Pattern #156. It was fun to make.
Fortunately or unfortunately it is for a friend. Will have to make myself one!!!! Need to get the top in the mail this week. Must  admit I did go a little cross eyed at times getting those half square triangles in the right direction. And of course had to frog a few too!
Should have something on the wall next week. At the point where I have to start making blocks again, but it was nice to have a couple of finishes.

I stopped at the pond close to our place on the way back from the LQS to see if I could find the pair of white pelicans I saw yesterday. 7 there today! Am hoping they are still there so Galen can get a picture or two with his long lens. They are traveling through so Spring must not be to far behind. The Goldfinches are also coming into our feeders.

FABRIC STASH REPORT-WEEK 5, 2015

I finished the top for a friend. That was 6.5 yards! Plus 1.5 used for  borders for Seeing Stars (Denise's NY mystery) and the backing 4.5 yards. It was a good week. I did have to buy backing for the other top I completed but everything is going in the mail this week. Since it's an in and right out again, I won't even put it in the report.

Too bad not every week can be like this!

Over to Patchworktimes!

Other doings this past week-

We had beautiful weather for part of the week, sunny and in the high 70's to low 80's! We took Wednesday off from the usual routine and went to San Saba for the day. Checked out some places we hadn't been to for a while. One was the San Saba Olive Oil Company. It seems that Olive Trees like the Texas soil and climate as we have several olive orchards now. This business in San Saba has flavored oils and also some great Balsamic blended vinegars. Of course we brought several bottles home with us. Then  to Wedding Oak Winery to partake of some of their wines. After that to the San Saba River Company Pecan company. It was a fun day
