 August 2020!

A year has passed since I wrote on this blog. Thought I would give it a try once again! Been fighting a little with Wordpress!

We have been staying put this year since our last trip to Rockport in early March. Then Covid 19 took over!  I have been doing a good bit of quilting. Of course made masks and still making a few. My next endeavor has become making scarves for our girls groomer.

                          Fun masks for some kids

                                                Tiki modeling her poodle scarf

Scarves for LaMia Bella

Doing a block challenge for Quilting with Love Facebook group. I give them a block with a few months to make what ever they can. They send them to me and I get them into tops. A friend of mine quilts them. I finish them and then they are donated to various groups; Linus Connection, Quilting for Kids and Quilts of Compassion are the 3 main groups.

Right now we are making Happy Blocks!

We lost Tilly our black standard May of 2019 to lung cancer. This March we introduced Lady Adelaide to our family. She is 4. We got her from a breeder outside Houston. She was no longer able to have puppies. She and Tiki get along great. Yes there were a few spats but nothing major. Tiki is 15 now and I think is happy to have company once again. Just about every night she goes out, walks around the side of the house and gives several low woofs. We've decided she is filling Tilly (her sister) in on her days activities!

Lady is very active. Loves to run. She is fun to watch. Once in a while our old girl will ambush her like she did Tilly

I have been quilting as well. This one was from a Quilt along this past May. My friend Osie did a beautiful job quilting it for me
Its' called Daisy Chain

This was a UFO that was finally finished.-Night Sky. Osie quilted this one for me as well

I have managed to finish several unfinished projects so far this year. Need to keep doing that

Life at the Stewart household!

Never knew dogs could get pneumonia. But Tilly is recovering from it. Vet appointment last Friday as she was not sounding good and certainly not herself. Those of you who know her, she is usually full of life.  Xrays and blood work pneumonia! She has been on antibiotics now and has finally turned the corner. Tomorrow is a follow up.

We have been spending our time with her, or at least on the first floor. Therefore no sewing for me but we did get the downstairs back to normal! Christmas has been put away for another year. It was time but things always look so bare for a few days!

Hoping that soon I can start working on the upstairs again once she is sounding better. She has her 12th birthday on Valentine's Day.

On a brighter note Tiki had a good yearly check up on Monday! The bright spot of the week!

Design Wall Monday-a day late!!! (5/22/2018)

Did not get my usual post done for yesterday so am playing catch up! Nothing new for me!!! It was a week of yard work mostly for Galen. We are slowly getting rid of our Asian Jasmine ground cover in the front. Yes, it looks nice, is not native and likes to climb walls and bushes. It is a pain to keep out of the shrubbery. So after 19 years it is getting torn out. My job was keeping the new sod watered! It is taking hold so we are hoping that after this month as can get back to our regularly scheduled watering days. I am cringing to think what this water bill will be; but we did need to sod some of the front yard!

On the sewing front, there was some success! I did finish the top I was working on. Hash Browns by Cozy Strip Club and a long overdue club project from Honey Bee. I gave it to Kerry yesterday to quilt for me.

Also gave her 2 quilt tops from my friend Wendy in MO. Kerry will quilt them and when finished I will pass them on to the Thank you Quilters. The quilts go to Ft. Hood. Not good pictures, was more interested in showing Wendy the backings I bought for them.

Will have better pictures when finished!

Since I finished the top I was working on last week and had been going through containers I was
finding quilt kits that needed to be made. Thursday and Friday I spent the days cutting 4 kits.

Started kit #1 over the weekend. Arcadia is the pattern by Mountainpeek Creations. I do enjoy their designs.

20 floral blocks

This is the pieced sashing.

Playing with the layout as one of the prints is directional

Row 1 is done

As for our girls, Tilly, our 11 year old Standard had an appointment with the vet on Wednesday. She needed her teeth cleaned. She was still a little groggy when we brought her home later that afternoon.
She was a lot more alert about an hour after this photo and back to her ornery self by bedtime.

As for Tiki our 13 year old Standard she spent most of Wednesday sleeping or nuzzling her buffalo. She was missing her sister.

That was life at the Stewarts last week

Design Wall Monday-February 26, 2018

Looks like I took some time off from blogging! But I have been busy!

While at the quilt show last month at South Padre Island, my sweet husband bought me one of the demo Martelli Work Stations. This is the mid size one and I am loving it. On  demo models you get a good discount. And we had the pickup so it came home with us. I am loving the adjustable height, easy to move casters etc. And it does come apart so we were able to get it upstairs where I wanted to use it!

 Advantage Work Station Kit
That's my everything gift for this year and then some!!!!!

And it has been getting used.

I have been following and also making the stashbuster quilts each month from  Sparrow Quilt Company If you follow this link it will take to you where I can see the one for March.

February's quilt was Almost Houndstooth. I was able to use quite a few layer cake pieces that were left over from other quilt tops.

                                                             This is my finished top

I have not decided yet on this month's Undone Stashbuster quilt pattern,Need to decide soon so I can take it along on our next trip. I have to have something to do in the motel room in the evenings!

I have also been working on a quilt kit from Fat Quarter Shop called Breezy Day. It is basically blue and white with some grays thrown in foe good measure!

2 of the 35 blocks needed.

As some of you know my husband does photography of birds and butterflies. There were reports of Snowy Owls in Texas this winter. They were spotted in 4 locations. Up until this year there had only been 8 sightings reported and none this far south or west in Texas. We took a few days and drove out to Odessa, Texas. I guess the Owl wanted to be among the oil fields! We stayed in San Angelo. Much less expensive to stay there and drive another 60 miles to go Owl hunting. We did find the owl. She was hanging out along a busy highway in basically a strip mall. Beautiful bird and very much worth the trip. By the markings they figure she is about a year old. She flew to the light standard in the mornings and perch there for the day. We walked all the way around the base of the light and she sat there and watched. it was hard to get a picture with her eyes open the whole way. She was facing the sun!

Tilly our black Standard poodle turned 11 on Valentine's Day. Hard to imagine!

They are both watching their waistlines so they shared a peanut butter/banana cupcake.

That is about all for me.
