Design Wall Monday-5/27/2013

First I hope everyone is enjoying the long Memorial Day weekend.  Nothing on the design wall at the moment.  But here are my choices for the Road To Llano!

I am using 2 different med/darks and I do have black batik, it's just not shown here. Better yet, I don't have to buy any thing for the top!  Now I can put the rest of the batiks back to bed!
A quick trip to the store this morning- Dad will be here for dinner, but maybe I will get some play time in between!

Stash Report Week 21-2013

Not much sewing again this week.  I stopped by my LQS and saw something really cute for a friend.  It was a pillow case which they had kitted.  Since it was easier at that point in time to just get the kit, I did.  Made the pillow case that afternoon as I was mailing a box to her the next day.  Forgot to take a picture however!  So fabric came in and went right back out!!  Have been going through my bins of batiks to see what I can come up with for the Road to Llano quilt a long. May have to add a fabric or two to what I want to use! I've been really good so far about not buying unless I really need it so if I have too, that's okay too!

Design Wall-May 20, 2013

My design wall has not changed since I put another UFO on it! I talked about it in this blog Asian Swap blocks

With everything the past 2 weeks it is still in the same place-nothing done! No decisions made!  I did however finish the binding on the kids bright swap block flimsy UFO

Tuesday I'll make a trip to UPS-get the quilts off, a few birthday presents along with a few other packages of things I have been promising people!

Stash Report-week 20

This was not a productive week as nothing was used.  Nothing came in tho either so that was good!  The week started off having the prep work done for 2 crowns on Monday.  I think these are the last 2 molars without crowns and had very old and very big fillings!  The rest of the week has been filled with sinus problems.  Just didn't feel like sewing. So my numbers are the same.

On the up side- we did manage to free up a lot of space.  I have had a HQ16 set up for the past 8 years and have not used it for the past 4!  Why, I would rather piece than quilt the tops.  So I have been having them quilted by some one else. On Thursday we delivered the machine plus table to a group in San Antonio-Angel Cover Ministry.  They needed it and were more than happy to get it. 

They make and deliver quilts for Ronald McDonald House, various homes, the military, you name it.  Sylvia can not say no to anyone.  They had been using a home made set up with a regular machine.  This will give them the capability of doing more and larger quilts when needed.  Now to get the last quilt bound so I can get the box mailed to Judy's friend in Waco!

Had hoped to get my UFO top put together this week, but the best laid plans...... Needless to say did not get anymore work on that except to play with it.  Did how ever finish the Waste Knot Flimsy, backing and binding are all cut  so I am counting that as yardge used for the week!  Nothing in, yes, I was at one of my LQS's but only bought a ruler!

UFO Wednesday-5/8/13

I pulled out a UFO this past week- Asian fabrics bordered on 2 sides by black.  I was thinking of doing this one using attic windows setting with sashing etc.  Then while waiting close to the airport last night for the "we have our luggage come get us call" I was looking through a quilt magazine as saw a setting on point that I liked.  Now I am in a quandry-I have 50 squares-what can I do with that or should I make more?  Yes, I need to play some more!

This is my playing around this morning.  If I have it right, I need to make one more block. Of I can make more to make a bigger size.  I have plenty of Asian fabrics!  No problem! Now to decide if I want to make the setting triangles or make like the one in the magazine and cut the outside blocks.

I am also binding another UFO.  It's not listed as I had it put together before we went on parade!

I am in a yahoo group-Quilted with Love.  Once in a while we have block swaps.  We were on a snowball kick for awhile.  Sorry for the bad pictures.  One camera has a very dead battery and I have not found the charger with the spare battery.  It seems my other one is having a few problems now too!

 Summer theme-70  Have quite a few water/beach type blocks so I may make a quilt with just those.  Another -lots of foods and then another grouping florals.

Design Wall-May 6, 2013

This week I have been working on one of my old strip club pattern and strips from my LQS.  It's their version of the Waste Knot Pattern.  20  14"blocks so it is a good size.

I also put a border on it so it is ending up being about 76 x 96. Now I can put up the UFO blocks I was starting to play with! The guys get back on Tuesday so I had better get busy!

Nothing in and nothing used that I can count.  Yes, I have been sewing, but the tops aren't finished yet.  Next week I should have some really good numbers to report!

What did others do this week?

With our cooler than normal temps for this time of the year, it was also a good time to get out and do more work in the yard, repotted some plants, planted some flowers.  Our Angel Trumpet out did itself with a lot of blossoms this week.  There was a planting of these not far from our home in Taiwan so when I saw them here I knew we had to get a plant of two.  This one is from a local nursery and it has been doing great.  Have a little different variety I ordered from a catalog-it has bloomed but not as much.  And neither of these are as fragrant as the ones in Taiwan, but I do enjoy them.

Have been feeding hummingbirds for the past month.  We have feeders  up but also keep lots of flowers for them to feed. 

As you see besides sewing I have been outside getting a few things done before it gets too hot!
