Fabric stash Report-week 13, 2015

I actually did get to sew just a little this past week!  More fabric fondling than sewing, but I did manage to use 1/3 of a yard making a fabric box for a gift. It's used so it counts!

We moved the remodel start date back a week. That gives us a little more time to get things ready and also get Dad moved. And now that Spring has finally arrived to Texas and the bluebonnets are blooming it's too nice to be inside all the time working!

Fabric Stash report-week 12, 2015

My numbers remain the same. I have been very busy getting ready for the next remodel. That means trying to organize, toss out, and generally rearrange the upstairs stuff. The upstairs stuff is mostly my sewing. I have unearthed 4- patches from several swaps that I participated in about 8 years ago, maybe more. A bag of Christmas nickles from about the same time frame. Some patterns that I must have really liked as I have 2 of them.  Don't think I need to say more!
We have also ordered our fixtures for the bathroom, figured on the paint colors, had people out to look and do a quick measurement for the shutters and yesterday picked out the light fixtures.Plus set up the dates to get our furniture out and into storage and Dad moved to his new apartment. That about covers it!!!!!

We had another inch of rain where we live yesterday but still not much over the lakes where it is really needed. I am sure the farmers on our side would like things to dry out. It is almost to late to plant the corn. Will be a lot of millet and probably cotton going in this year. The sun is out today and promises to be a nice day.

Off now to get dinner in the crock pot-swiss steak for the 3 of us, then back to cleaning out!

DESIGN WALL MONDAY-MARCH 16,2015

I needed to get a picture of my Seeing Stars quilt that was the NY Mystery on Justquiltin-Denise Russart. My friends at the LQS held it for me this morning.
It is quilted and I finished the binding this weekend. I do like the way it turned out.  When  I showed it to Galen last evening he asked where it was going. For the time being it will stay here!

We had a busy Monday getting things in line for the remodel and Dad's move. Appointments made for people to come out on Wednesday to give us an estimate to move and store our furniture for a couple of months. And also the people are coming that afternoon to measure for the shutters. We need that done as at the one window the tile will butt up against the shutter. Tomorrow we are also going to the plumbing supply place to pick out the faucets etc for the bathroom. Get that done and they'll get the exact measurements to the contractor. Between now and D-day I am trying to get the upstairs livable as that is where we will be sleeping.  When one doesn't have company for a long time that stays with us, one's sewing takes over!!!!!!

FABRIC REPORT-WEEK 11, 2015

Thank heavens for getting another quilt bound-I can claim a little more in the used column! There is going to be very little sewing or at least finishing done in the next couple of months. Starting April 6th the next phase of the remodel will start. (Master bath, bedroom and then wood flooring in the rest of the downstairs). The other news-my Dad has decided it is time to move into a 55 and over community. It has taken him a while to come to that conclusion. He is 97. His lease there starts April 1. Need I say more?

DESIGN WALL MONDAY-3/9/15

I have been sewing on blocks for various projects.  I did finish the Trifecta BOM for Feb.
I like this version of the Friendship Star. Has a little more interest to it.I need to go back to Cotton Cupboard now and get the block for this month.

I have also been doing the Quilters Addicts Anonymous  2015 BOM on Craftsy. Calypso Kaleidoscope is the name. I am using some of the Calypso Batiks by Moda and a lot from my stash. It has been a lot of fun so far and I am caught up! This is the center medallion.
And yes, I plan on keeping this one!

This link will take you to it-      calypso kaleidoscope

Have been having fun celebrating being another year older. Meals with close friends, of course the coupons from various places.  All great fun. This was my free dessert from Jack Allens Kitchen in Round Rock last Monday.
Galen and I split the very rich chocolate torte.
It's a  rainy Monday here in Round Rock. Over an inch so far and still raining. Am hoping that the areas to the west of us over the Highland Lakes are getting this as well. The farmers close to us are now wishing it would stop raining for a little while so they can get their corn planted. They start planting by the middle of February and this year it has been a little wetter than usual and colder than usual. So if they haven't planted be now it will be another week before the ground is ready.

The contractors should be coming out this afternoon to give us ideas for the remodel of the master bath and the other big job we want done. My Dad who us 97 is thinking that maybe now is a good time to look at the retirement place near by for those 55 and older. That is tomorrow. He is still living by himself and is getting tired of the cooking etc. And we would have a little more peace of mind. He knows that. But it is his decision.
See what else happens this week!
